Different Types Of Opening Sequences
You will see:

- Introduction to a character (reveal who is hero and villain)
- Setting (what type of setting the film will be in)
- An understanding of the tone/atmosphere of the film

- Introduce some or all the characters
- A sense of the films genre

- Establish location

- Black, white and grey theme colours, signifies it's a dark film
- Snippets of narrative
- Some form of romance

- Keyboard with leads suggest some form of detective or hacker
- Oil and blood across screen suggests fire
A discrete title sequence: Is like a mini film and helps to get the audience into the mood of the film but not tell you what the film is fully about.

- Follows one character
- Sense of story line... He is driving and the title is 'Drive'
- He is getting tracked when driving therefore showing the setting
- Zooms out to a birds eye view of the road showing that a lot of the movie will take place on the roads.
- The theme song lyrics show he's 'driving' away from his past.
- Has a storyline going on at the same time
The traditional title sequence: Slightly stylised you will see the title of the film, font introducing the actors that will reflect the genre and the sound will create a mood that helps to reveal narrative information.

Straight into the film title sequence: A film, that goes straight into the story and doesn't have any extra title sequence. Doesn't introduce characters, only the title. Most likely to see this in a horror genre.

The Stylish Opening title sequence: A stylised title sequence is a combination of straight into it and discrete. The opening of the film starts straight into the action and then followed by a 'discrete' title sequence.
Twister: Stylised opening sequence, as the strong winds with the credits and title shows the action and what the movie is about, however it is still 'discrete' in the way in shows the winds.
Entourage: Traditional opening sequence as you get a sense of the story line with credits and the title present, the location is clear with summer colours and with a positive theme song.
