Film posters are apart of the film marketing campaign to target a wide variety of audiences as well as their target audience. From research our target audience and primary audience is primarily the ages between 24-29 and the majority (66%) being male audience members. Aspects that stand out in the film poster would be the gun, this prop instantly tells the audience member that there will be action and death within the film, therefore that audience member will decide instantly whether they will want to see the film based on a prop being featured. Additionally, the moon and the fact that it is slightly blurred on right suggests some sought of double life and all is not what it seems which will make the typical audience member more intrigued to watch the movie therefore the poster having a positive effect in making target audience members get excited about the film. Lastly, the different colours of the thick clouds connotes danger, especially the red clouds below as it further suggests the theme of death and the potential victims blood that will be scattered when they get shot.

Screen grabs and how different parts of my thriller appeal to the audience through actors, mise-en-scene and generic conventions of thrillers:
Certain aspects of my film will appeal more to a specific target audience, which is clear from the pie charts above from my research into our target audience (based on 'Goodfellas' & 'The Godfather' target audience as well). In our thriller we have a scene where someone is viciously shot to death. This attracts more of a male audience due to the action involved. As men are attracted to films with more action and suspense, where as women prefer romantic films with happier endings. So by including a significant action and violent scene in the opening of the film, we are able to attract men between the ages of 18-30.
This action scene is usually found in thrillers to attract our target audience
- The Mise En Scene we have included helps us address our target audience. Firstly, the main prop we use is a black car which is presented as a sophisticated, expensive black car which could attract those men who are interested in cars. In addition, the main costume we used for all characters shown was a professional, smart suit. These costumes appeals to those interested in crime films as the costume instantly signifies the genre of the film as it suggests that these criminals are not your typical psychopaths, but they are organised and professional in the way they kill. That's how we attracted a target audience of the ages 23-29 (as the main audience) because the genre is one which attracts of an older age, rather than younger teenagers. We also made sure we filmed our thriller in the night because it addresses the thriller genre more, so it attracts that specific target audience. Overall through our mise en scene we addressed all the typical thriller lovers as the conventions we used such as at night, guns, fancy cars, suits and death all matches the conventions of a thriller that would appeal to an audience member.
- Our target audience can relate to the actors and actresses used in our thriller. Firstly we used a middle aged man and a younger man, who were our protagonists and they attracted our secondary target audience who are females because they are actors that women would find attractive - especially in a smart, sophisticated suit. These good-looking actors allow woman audiences members to possibly indulge in an on screen fantasy that is not present in their real lives. As our two main actors Michael and Dennis Callaghan are presented as assertive and empowering, even though they're a villains to the normal world. Moreover, our victim who is not seen will gain the attention of both primary and secondary audiences as they are all human beings therefore they will sympathise for the defenseless victim (although the mafia have reasons for killing him).

- After our title sequence has finished our thriller will include more action packed scenes and more victims being killed as the storyline unfolds to as why this particular group of people is being targeted by the mafia. Possibly with more violence to attract our target audience even more and to make sure they keep watching. Furthermore, we will introduce younger characters to appeal to the younger part of our target audience as our characters in the opening are middle aged and one young man which doesn't appeal to the woman as much. This means that we will add more woman characters such as a police detective which will make woman feel excited for this character and push her to succeed. Therefore, hopefully all the characters will appeal to both our primary and secondary audiences in which they can form bonds with to continue watching the movie. Lastly, the theme of crime, mystery and thrill continues throughout and will appeal to fans of the crime film which will target our intended audience.
- There are a few thriller convention that will appeal to all audience members of thrillers:
1. My thriller 'Family Business' has a loud gun shot sound with added special effects to emphasise the death to the audience; this also happened in 'Goodfellas' with the multiple gun shots. Therefore fans of thrillers will expect there to be guns and death in which my thriller has which is confirmed by it being used in a similar based thriller of 'Goodfellas.' This means that this convention of a gun being used to kill someone is an expected convention that a audience member wants to see and buys a cinema ticket for.

Family Business
3. Lastly, both my film 'Family Business' and 'Goodfellas' which are both from the genre 'crime thriller' have key props that attract all target audiences that like crime thrillers. These props consist of smart clothing (suits), fancy cars and of course the main prop a gun. These all match conventions of thrillers as all these props are present in the majority of crime thrillers, therefore they are key reasons for why the target audience will come to watch the film.Film Poster 2
Our second film poster has similar aspects to the first as the blood still attracts our primary audience and matches the thriller convention themes of death and mystery. Furthermore our secondary audience which is aimed more towards the female audience is attracted by the two good-looking actors which will make females more interested in seeing the movie. Moreover the two faces in the middle are pixellated with only half of the faces visible, this creates further mystery as it suggests that their reality is not all what it seems. Additionally, all audience members who are interested and enjoy crime thrillers will be attracted by the features such as the blood as this connotes death. Also the image of 'Big Ben' tells the audience member that the center of the film is surrounded by it and as no other information is there to why 'Big Ben' is there it creates further mystery and will attract older audience members who perhaps prefer thrillers about murder mystery. Lastly, the title is sophisticated and the pink allows it to be subtly immature leaning towards our target audience of 24-29 as they are adults but of course still young therefore the pink is tailored more to the younger spectrum of adults in which is our target audience.
