Who would be the audience for your media product?

Due to the cruel nature of our ‘mafia’ based filmed I would suggest that the minimum age of audience would be 15+ as violence and murder is a strong film throughout. As the film opening sequence is the mafia being seen killing a victim; this would set the precedent

for our thriller therefore meaning the rest of the film would more murders and violence. 

Additionally, from our research you can see that our target audience is predominantly male and between the ages of 23-24 so therefore mainly above the age of 15. 

Moreover, from the official website of the 'British Board of Film Classification' a key theme throughout involves imitable behaviour and the given definition off the BBFC website is: "Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not dwell on detail which could be copied. Whether the depiction of easily accessible weapons is acceptable will depend on factors such as realism, context and setting." From acknowledging this definition it has led us to the decision of 15+ as although violence and murder is a constant theme throughout, the movie does not encourage nor promote one to murder or join a mafia as it presented as an exclusive, secretive and dangerous life which is all portrayed throughout the rest of the film.

'Ryan Wagner' is a classic example of our ideal target audience. Predominantly male and age between 16-30 the most popular range from our market research. As our film has strong violence throughout 'the male aged 24' like Ryan is the most accurate audience we have concluded from market research as well as information from IMBD profiles.

From these IMDB profiles of the movies 'Goodfellas' and 'The God Father,' it is clear that both movies have keywords of 'mafia, crime family and organised crime.' Therefore as our story line is very similar to both movies and the key words are the same in our film, this means the target audience will be the same. Therefore from research mostly male audience members (68%) as they prefer the violent nature and sense of danger in films more then woman. Additionally, the main age group is of course 15 (minimum age) to 29, taking up 60% of the age categories of the research filled into a pie chart.

All these words link to both movies 'Goodfellas' and 'The Godfather' therefore making our target audiences very similar,being mainly males between 15-29.

Additionally, from both target audience members spreadsheets we can see in 'The God Father' that males are '837,572 thousand' compared to '120,630' of woman. Also in 'Goodfellas' the males that watched it were '545,314' compared to '65,667' of woman. Both movies clearly show that these gangster crime, mafia films are dominated by males. Additionally, the age categories show that a wide range of ages like these films, This is clear from the stats of '412,614' and ' 410,619' in 'The Godfather' ranges from age 18-44 showing a very wide audience. Furthermore, in 'Goodfellas' the range of audience is very wide with '249,420' between 18-29 and '26928' between 30-44. Therefore, although our main target audience is males between 23-29, it is clear than all genders (mostly male) between ages 18-44 show a strong interest in these type of thrillers (crime thriller).

Secondary target audience is clearly the ages of 30-44 as this group is less popular than 18-29, but hundreds of thousands still showed a very strong interest in the crime thrillers.
