When we first began editing it was very difficult as we had to all familiarise ourselves with the imovie software as the majority of us hadn't used it before. Therefore each editing session was valuable and part of the learning process. For example what seemed like simple tasks like uploading footage and special effects seemed straight forward, however it was very difficult at first. Once we all became more familiar with the editing software the process became much more fun.Every editing session our whole group was there to contribute with new ideas and suggestions, even though not everyone participated in the physical editing. Overall I really enjoyed the editing as I liked seeing the behind the scenes which really built up to why our thriller was as good as it was.
However, the editing process was difficult as every aspect had to be perfect otherwise it would make the thriller look uneven. We had to make sure the backing track was in sync with the opening credits and if one credit wasn't we would have to redo that entire section of the editing. Furthermore, something we collectively found difficult was making the cinematic effects work with each scene as they had to be right in order to look realistic.
When I reflect back on the editing process I ended up being happy with the final cut. However in future I will do more research in advance on specific effects on the Imovie software; this would've sped up the entire process if we were initially more familiar with the software.
When I compare our prelim with our final thriller I can see the clear differences in editing techniques as our thriller has much more complex edits which creates a bigger effect. We have improved greatly from the prelim and taken advantage of the amazing Imovie software in order to make our opening sequence the best it can be. However, the prelim was easier to edit as we just stuck to the storyboard where the sheet told us, whereas when we edited our thriller we didn't stick to our storyboard as much as we thought; this is because we thought of new ideas which would make our thriller even better. Our thriller ended up being much better and creative than I had ever anticipated it to be as throughout editing and filming we became more creative as we had idea which we manipulated positively which worked well in our thriller.
